The current concert season at Athens' Parnassos Hall opens with Young Classical series, devised and promoted by specs 'n' arts, supported by Parnassos Literary Society, under the artistic direction of an internationally awarded young classical pianist, Apostolos Palios. Υoung talented Greek and foreign musicians will join forces with renowned classical artists.

> The opening concert, on October 6, organised with the kind support of the Embassy of Belgium in Athens, is open to the public. The Belgian violinist Michael Guttman conducts the String Ensemble of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra and the French saxophone virtuoso Clement Himbert, graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, crowning the cooperation between the Paris Conservatory and Parnassos Concert Hall.

> Mondays with Athens State Orchestra's chamber music ensembles is a series of ten concerts extended from October '11 to May '12 covering a huge range of chamber music composers, from Johann Sebastian Bach, to Nino Rota and Astor Piazzolla.

> For the seventh consecutive year in Athens, the established Around the piano festival will be presented by specs 'n' arts from November 5 to November 12, under the artistic direction of Alexandra Nomidou and with the support of Parnassos Literary Society: Thirty four guest artists from around the world, many of them making their Athenian debut, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta with lead violin Candida Thompson, the Trio Ligeti, the partner and original interpreter of Astor Piazzolla's music, pianist, composer and conductor Pablo Zinger with the Argentina-raised mezzo Désirée Halac, the young internationally awarded Greek pianist Theodosia Ntokou, and the dynamic piano duo of Daniel Rivera & Gabriele Baldocci, will be among the participants ... November 5, 7, 8 and 12.

> Sunday mornings will revolve around the 'divine' music of Antonio Vivaldi and his contemporaries, with the Athens Camerata - The Friends of Music Orchestra on January 29, February 19, March 18 and April 1, inaugurating a collaboration with Parnassos Concert Hall and bringing together established young artists from around the world.

> Additionally, a significant number of recitals and chamber music concerts will take place in cooperation with European orchestras such as the Musica Vitae from Sweden, with violinist Anton Martynov and classical accordionist James Crabb on February 18, as well as with prestigious ensembles such as the Athens String Quartet (March '12)the Greek Byzantine Choir under the direction of Lycourgos Angelopoulos (December 12th), the Athens Mandolin Quintet with the famous Italian mandolin soloist Ugo Orlandi on Sunday morning December 11, with free admission.

> Parnassos Hall will also serve as the home for the revived Athens Mandolinata, which, since its establishment under the direction of its founder, Nikolaos Lavdas, contributed significantly to Greece's artistic development during the first decades of the 20th century.

Under the artistic direction of the inexhaustible, groundbreaking improviser Yiorgos Psyhogios, specs 'n' arts presents on Saturday, October 15, the 1st Super Jazz Marathon with twelve top-tier jazz invited musicians promising unplugged performances and unexpected sounds and feelings.

> A series of world music concerts, including the Enza Pagliara quartet from southern Italy, fadistas from Portugal and international world music ensembles will be presented on January 26, February 24, March 10 and April 27.

> Two special concerts are scheduled for the week before Christmas, in collaboration with the Athens University Music department, a tribute to Greek composer Antiochos Evangelatos will be offered, on December 17, while two days later, on December 22, the Music Ensembles of the Athens University Music department will appear in a festive Christmas program.
