Hydra Classical
July 2016

The Hydra Classical Festival was established in 2011 and has immediately been warmly welcomed by residents and visitors of the island.

It has presented concerts free and open to the public in collaboration with the Municipality of Hydra and the Historical Archives - Museum of Hydra, as well as the Piraeus Sinfonia Festival

Hydra Classical has presented artists from Greece and abroad, such as the Miscelanea Guitar Quartet from Greece/Germany, Nick Tsiavos' ensemble from Australia, the Ensemble Calliopée, violinist Anton Martynov and saxophoniste Clément Himbert from France, pianist Caspar Frantz and cellist Rebekka Markowski from Germany, Greek violinist Jannis Agraniotis and Australian violist Francis Kefford, among others.

On 6 July 2016, Nick Tsiavos' ensemble from Australia is reinvited to present Tsiavos' new work "Immersion" at the Historical Archives - Museum of Hydra.

Deborah Kayser - soprano

Adam Simmons - saxophones/clarinets

Anthony Schulz - accordeon

Peter Neville - percussion

Nick Tsiavos - doublebass

Nick Tsiavos is one of Australia’s most enigmatic musicians who doubles as an architect of sound. He fuses ancient sacred chant with otherworldly avant-garde techniques to create performances that enthral and challenge. "Immersion" is Tsiavos’ latest and grandest adventure into the unknown.
