Serres World Music Festival
17, 18 & 19 June 2016

The 2nd edition of Serres World Music Festival has programmed

- Greek singer Penny Baltatzi with her band on 17 June

- Turkish Light in Babylon ensemble on 18 June

- Cuban band La Cucaracha  on 19 June

Local bands from Serres will share the stage with the invited ones while everyone is welcome on this 3day world music party on the pedestrian streets of the town!

Serres is one of the most picturesque cities of Northern Greece. Its history dates back to 12th centure B.C., and the town is mentioned by the Greek historian Herodotus as Siris.

The beauty of its nature is absolutely unique, with Lake Kerkini being one of the most important wetlands in Europe with a rich fish fauna, and considered to be one of the top European bird watching destinations with about 300 bird species observed here. The lake is surrounded by Mounts Belles and Mavrovouni and in the area one can trace the greatest number of buffalos in Greece.

Lake Kerkini is a rare example of fine human intervention in a superb natural landscape: the delicate balance of the ecosystem has been preserved to offer great benefits to the region. Over the past few years, it has become very popular for ecotourism lovers, environmental scholars and field researchers alike. Whatever your special interest, just get there and enjoy the wonderful scenery along with a lively world music festival!
