Biography

Alexandros Sarakenides is one of the most promising young Greek pianists.

He concertises in Greece and abroad as a soloist as well as in cooperation with chamber music ensembles and orchestras, such as the Athens State & Municipal Symphony Orchestras, the Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra, the Brussels Virtuosi, the Estonian Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, the Mechels Orkest, and with acclaimed artists such as the flutist Marc Grauwels and the pianist Alan Weiss. Alexandros has performed in the festivals, Les Mercredis de la Musique asbl, Le Festival des Midis aux Minimes, the Thessaloniki Piano Festival, the International Aegina Music Festival, the International Pireus Sinfonia Festival, the International classical music festival of Cyclades, among others.

He has studied in Thessaloniki at State Conservatory and has completed higher piano studies at the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia with the specialisation – piano instrumental performance. From 2011 to 2015, he studied with pianist Alan Weiss at LUCA-Arts, Leuven, Belgium. He graduated from LUCA-Arts obtaining highest post-graduate diploma with the highest distinction (summa cum laude). He has also studied with several leading artists, such as Sergio Tiempo, Naum Grubert, Milena Molova, Daniel Rivera, Lilia Boyadjieva, Michael Hauber, G. Hadjinikos, D. Toufeksis, S. Osokins, Katerina and Yanna Polyzoidou.

Scholar of the Academy of Athens, Alexandros Sarkenidis has been awarded in numerous national and international competitions.

In December 2017, he received the honorary prize of ‘Eleni Mykoniou’ of the prestigious Academy of Athens.
